Sustain improvements and adhere to process

To ensure you achieve and sustain a proactive asset performance management process, you will have to focus time and attention on the activities involved in business and organizational alignment.  This will include the performance of a business case and reliability assessment, conducting a strategy session and change leadership training with the senior leadership team, building an accountability model, defining the APM business process, including the assignment of roles/responsibilities and skills, conducting a training needs analysis and delivering the training and mentoring to enable individuals to successfully perform their role within the APM process.

Implementation efforts will focus on one area at a time and will gradually expand until all areas of a business unit have been covered.  Then, the APM efforts will expand to another business unit and again progress area by area.  This approach will ensure that positive results are achieved early in the initial implementation efforts and widely communicated to maintain the momentum essential to success with a large scale reliability effort.
